The Students' Union is aware of the transportation challenges facing students during the COVID-19 pandemic and with Fall 2020 classes being online.
We understand that many students are currently, or will be using online learning in September, and many students are outside of the transportation area that the U-PASS serves.
In order to best serve students, the Students' Union continues to work with our U-PASS partners to ensure that the U-PASS program is still available to those students who rely on the U-PASS for transportation to and from University, work, appointments, groceries and other student needs.
The Students' Union has negotiated to operate only the Fall 2020 semester using the opt-in model, so those students who would like the cost savings and are able to use the U-PASS can, and while those who are outside of the transportation area, do not have to be assessed the U-PASS fee.
The U-PASS fee for Fall 2020 will automatically be reversed onto all UBC Okanagan students SSC accounts prior to the September 2020 fees deadline.
The Students' Union and U-PASS partners will review the transportation for Winter 2021 semester. Further information will be updated on the Students' Union website:
In order to opt-in, students must bring their UBC student ID card to the UBCSUO GreenText and More Bookstore (UNC 103) to purchase the U-PASS for the Fall 2020 semester.
The Fall 2020 U-PASS cost will remain the same ($63.00 per semester) and will be effective from September 1st, 2020 until December 31, 2020.
In September 2020, the U-PASS will be available at the GreenText and More Bookstore for purchase between:
Monday - Thursday from 10:00am until 3:00pm.
Updates to store hours will be posted on the GreenText and More Bookstore Facebook page.
Transit riders should note that face coverings while on-board will be mandatory in BC effective August 24th 2020.
